Relocating was one of the BIGGEST challenges of my entire life and career. 9 years ago (when technology wasn’t anywhere close to where it is now) I started my newest venture to Miami Florida from Cheshire Connecticut. I had no idea what I was in for. I packed my car shortly after graduation and made my way down the coast with only 2 boxes, 4 bags of clothes and a TV – I thought for sure I was covered.
Through the sky scrappers of New York, to the suburbs of Virginia, and the beaches of the Carolinas, I finally made it to the sunshine State. I arrived to South Florida with no idea where to stay, who to contact or where to even begin. With extensive time and energy spent I finalized my entire move after weeks of stress.
Nothing about my move was enjoyable which leads me to not only this post, but also creating this company.
For one, you have to start with housing and securing a home with a credible brokerage in the right neighborhood. From there, you need to know who to call about everything from coordination of appointments, to consulting on drivers licenses, to applications to your favorite memberships, and who can forget groceries, who would’ve known grocery stores change per state!
Additionally, I needed to find a car, look for storage, find new belongings, manage my property, immerse myself into the culture of an entirely new place, and so much more.
If I knew what I know now about relocating or had a company such as the one I created, S&S Global, because of this terrible experience, that lumped together all my tasks into one package, I would have saved myself so much money, time, and so many tears.
